TVC Hots & Nots - Parachute Advansed

I totally love the new 'Parachute Advansed - Gorgeous Hamesha' commercial that has been on air recently. The ad doesn't directly talk about the product yet the intrensic benefit of the product comes through very clearly. Its feel good track and simple execution makes this commercial an example of great advertising, that helps build strong brand vaules for the company and phenomenal recall for the product.

The ad resonates well with its consumers, with its base line 'Gorgeous Hamesha' this ad makes me (their target consumer) feel really good about myself. And the whole stickness and phobia associated with hair oil is very clevery masked.
A clutter breaking ad that has all the right ingredients to strike the right chord with its consumers and to build a great brand.

Thankfully something a little more creative than Govinda singing in green-blue shirts with floral patterns - 'Thanda Thanda Cool Cool'.

Indian advertisements have always been far better than the western ones such revlon or nike. The idea I believe is to establish an emotional attachment with the end user rather than just projecting out the positive aspects of the product. Yet!! There are few drawbacks / consequences regarding such advertisements may it be ICICI / Parachute. They are as follows:
• Ads such as these show you models with really smooth and silky hair but does not give you the complete information about the product
• The end user is usually disheartened when he/she does not get the same result as assumed when watching such ads.
• In the end the consumer is forced to change the brand.

Do you think and advertisement should contain all the relevant information w.r.t the product rather than just playing a song and showcasing models with silky hair?

Hi Dhivya,

On both my recent visits to India, I was really impressed with the quality of TV ad slots.

Big on cinematography and big on humour. Hopefully big on sales as well.

Cheers

David

@ divya,
Yes indeed a very cool one. I love some of the adds

@Vinay.

I was wondering how one can put all the infor. about the product in the advt.

Also consumers i guess in most cases are smart enough to know that it's not all that rosy. (i might be grossly wrong here).

I saw the ad whn I was in Blr last week. One question, isnt advanced spelled with a 'c' not 's' ? All the hoardings also spelled it the same way , ie advansed ...am I missing something here?

Hi Dhivya,

No more updates - I guess you're on holidays or busy at work.

Haven't forgotten that I have to review your blog. There is a long waiting list of very good bloggers, but I'm just finishing off another novel for Penguin.

Will tick the reviews off one by one as soon as I can.

Cheers

David

The parachute Ad I think is quite sad.. i dont know how anyone can like it... to begin with 'Gorgeous Hamesha' sounds quite retarded, and the way they put it in a song makes me want to vomit...
besides that I think the ad coming out around the time of Livon sponsoring Get Gorgeous 4 on channel [v] is no credit to the creativity of the ad makers, whoever they are.
